McDermott Construction's History
In 1978, Peter McDermott was the lone founder of the company. Being the sole owner can have its perks—like getting to name the company after yourself.

We started out in Moline, Illinois and never felt a need to relocate. We love serving the Quad Cities, and it's the only place we can see ourselves calling home. We take pride in serving local Quad Citians and being able to meet all of their construction needs.

Every business has to start somewhere and McDermott Construction started off doing mainly decks. As early success increased business, the work was too much for just Peter McDermott to do himself. So for the next ten years McDermott Construction Company was officially a two-man "gig," still specializing in mostly decks. At one point we referred to ourselves as the "Deck-sperts." Catchy, we know!

With about ten years of decks under our belts, we decided to broaden our horizons into three-season rooms and room additions. That decision turned out to be a very good one. With a little hard work, McDermott Construction Company became respected enough in remodeling work that in 2004 we received the "Remodeler of the Year" Award.

Somewhere along the way we decided to try our hand at commercial construction. We discovered that it's another type of project we enjoyed doing and that it's something we did well. We're proud to say we've been doing commercial projects for about fifteen years now. Though we have more experience in non-commercial work, McDermott Construction Company is well-respected in the commercial industry and we haven't come across a project we couldn't handle.

Peter McDermottAt McDermott Construction, we believe that staying on top of the latest construction techniques gives our customers the best quality products and services. That's why we make it a point to attend annual seminars, trade shows, and other venues, so that we're as up-to-date as possible.

While we feel we have a great deal of knowledge and experience in construction work, usually only you know exactly what you want. We pride ourselves on being good listeners and being able to help you see the project from all angles, so nothing gets overlooked. While doing things by the book is what's needed in many circumstances, a good construction company knows how to be creative when they need to be. We feel doing at least one "unique" project a year keeps us on our toes.

Our number one goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality work for an affordable price. High quality construction work is an art form to us.
